Microclimatic Research

Provides information on the physical environment pertinent to vegetation response, nutrient leaching, net primary production, stand growth and yield, and stream processes.

The following are being measured at climate stations:

• soil temperature and moisture
• air temperature
• solar radiation regimes
• rain throughfall
• relative humidity

Microclimatic conditions are measured in the same plots as vegetation succession. This will help define the link between stand attributes (ground disturbance, canopy opening, and aspect), micro-environmental factors, and vegetation succession.
