This initiative is not part of a formal regulatory cooperation work plan.
Potential impacts on Canadians, including businesses
Some regulatory changes are expected to reduce administration burden (e.g., adding exemptions for research involving microbial agents); however, some regulatory changes are expected to increase administrative burden. Overall, a reduction in administrative burden is anticipated.
Industry consultations on the proposed amendments to the research provisions is expected to take place fall 2022.
Canadians will have the opportunity to provide comments on the proposed regulatory amendments during the Canada Gazette, Part I, public comment period, which is expected to take place in spring 2023.
