Consultation on proposed amendments to the Cannabis Tracking System Order

Health Canada invites you to comment on the proposed Order Amending the Cannabis Tracking System Order (Streamlining of Requirements). The purpose of the proposed amendments is to reduce administrative and regulatory burden while still maintaining the tracking of the high-level movement of cannabis through the supply chain.
Key changes under the proposed amendments include:
- reducing the number of data requirements for federal licence holders by:
- consolidating information into broader categories
- removing reporting requirements that are not needed to effectively track the movement of cannabis
- repealing federal reporting obligations for:
- those authorized by provinces and territories to oversee the sale of cannabis (typically a crown corporation, or provincial or territorial ministry)
- provincially and territorially authorized distributors and retailers
Provinces and territories would still be responsible for the oversight of cannabis within their jurisdictions.
