Who can give cannabis samples
Part 2 of the Cannabis Regulations (the Regulations) outlines what types of cannabis you can distribute and who you can distribute it to.
Specifically, only cultivation and processing licence holders are authorized to distribute cannabis (including giving it for free) to a cannabis retailer.
What can they give
You can only distribute cannabis that is a cannabis product to a cannabis retailer.
As a cultivation licence holder (including nursery), you can distribute cannabis plants or cannabis plant seeds to a cannabis retailer.
As a processing licence holder, you can distribute any class of cannabis product to a cannabis retailer provided it is authorized by your licence.
Who can they give it to
You may only give away cannabis (for free), including samples, to someone who is authorized to produce, sell or distribute cannabis. If you give away samples, such as at events, it is your responsibility to ensure that you only give them to authorized individuals. You cannot give cannabis samples to the public.
