Risk management action milestones for Batch 2 chemical substances

The chemical substances listed below are from Batch 2 of the Challenge, and each substance has met the criteria of either section 64 (a) or (c) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999). The tables below compile the proposed risk management actions for both health and the environment and provide the current status and any updated information for these proposed actions. For the complete wording of these proposed actions, please refer to the risk management approach documents listed in the Summary of Batch 2 Substances and Publications.

Food and Drugs Act (cosmetics) Addition to the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist.  The Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist has been amended.

Food and Drugs Act (cosmetics) Addition to the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist.  The Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist has been amended.

Common Name: D4
Authority Risk Management Actions Most Recent Milestone
CEPA 1999 Pollution prevention plan to limit industrial releases of D4.  A Final Pollution Prevention Planning Notice (P2 Notice) was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I on June 2, 2012.
CEPA 1999 Limits on the quantity or concentration of D4 in certain personal care products and consumer products. Under consideration.
Pest Control Products Act Prioritization of D4 for the formulant reassessment program, to determine if reduction of concentrations in pest control products is required. In development.
CEPA 1999 D4 will be monitored in air starting in 2008. Monitoring will be expanded to additional media in 2009-2010 as methods become available. D4 is currently monitored in air, surface water, sediment, wastewater and landfill leachate.
