The chemical substances listed below are from Batch 2 of the Challenge, and have met the criteria of either section 64 (a) or (c) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999). The tables below compile the proposed risk management actions for both health and the environment. For the complete wording of these proposed actions, please refer to the risk management approaches listed in the  summary of Batch 2 substances and publications. An updated summary of Chemical Management Plan (CMP) risk management instruments is available on the CMP risk management actions table.

F&DA(foods) Evaluation of future submissions for the use of epichlorohydrin in epoxy linings to keep residual levels in finished packaging material as low as possible. In effect as of January 2009.
F&DA(foods) Removal of epichlorohydrin from the food additives table, Division 16 of the Food and Drug Regulations. In development.
F&DA(cosmetics) Addition to the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. The Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist has been amended.

Common Name: D4

CEPA 1999 Pollution prevention plan to limit industrial releases of D4. A final P2 notice was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on June 2, 2012.
Pest Control Products Act Prioritization of D4 for the formulant reassessment program, to determine if reduction of concentrations in pest control products is required. The use of D4 as a formulant in pest control products (PCPs) was reassessed by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA). D4 is currently found at low levels in registered PCPs (<1%). The PMRA risk management strategy for D4 in PCPs is to ensure that concentrations remain low by ensuring that levels in proposed products are below those in other registered PCPs.
CEPA 1999 D4 has been monitored in different environmental media since 2008. D4 is currently monitored in various environmental media. A performance measurement evaluation for D4 is being initiated by Environment and Climate Change Canada. Monitoring data may be used as part of this evaluation to inform whether further risk management action is warranted.
