The chemical substances listed below are from Batch 7 of the Challenge, and these substances have met the criteria of section 64 (c) of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999. The table below compiles the proposed risk management actions for health and environment and provides the current status and any updated information for these proposed actions. CEPA 1999 Reduction in the availability of indoor alkyd paints to consumers.  Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Concentration Limits for Architectural Coatings Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II on September 30th, 2009. Prohibition on the sale and offer for sale of products exceeding set VOC concentration limits came into effect September 2012.
CEPA 1999 Discussions with industry to pursue exposure reduction measures for remaining alkyd, indoor products. Publication of the final  Code of Practice for 2-Butanone, oxime (Butanone oxime) Associated with the Interior Application of Consumer Alkyd Paint and Coating Products. Comments and the Government's response are summarized in the  Response to Comments on Proposed Code of Practice for 2-Butanone, oxime (butanone oxime).


The corresponding Notice was published in the  Canada Gazette, Part I: Vol. 148, No. 26 - June 28, 2014PDF Version - 2760 K).

CEPA 1999 Addition to the Environmental Emergency Regulations. Butanone oxime does not meet the criteria in section 200 of CEPA 1999 and will not be added to the  Environmental Emergency Regulations.
