6 Natural Resources Departments Pesticides and Pest Management Working Group (6NR)
The mandate of the 6 Natural Resources Departments Pesticides and Pest Management Working Group (6NR WG) is to coordinate, promote and foster closer cooperation between the federal research and regulatory communities working on pesticides and pest management issues.
Membership includes departments and agencies with a research, policy or regulatory capacity related to pesticides and/or pest management, namely:
- Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC),
- the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA),
- Environment Canada (EC),
- Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO),
- Health Canada (HC), and
- Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).
The 6 NR WG focuses on identifying, prioritizing and coordinating pesticide research and monitoring activities and on facilitating the timely transfer of results to support decision making. This cooperation contributes to strengthening science-based decision making in the regulation of pesticides and the identification of effective risk mitigation strategies.
