A white label has Group: A12345 printed at the top centre, the users name Paul B SMITH, printed below and the dosimeter serial number 483031 is printed at the bottom with a 3D barcode to the left and another 3D barcode to the right. The wearing period start date 2016/01/01 and end date 2016/03/31 is printed in the top right corner and is highlighted by a yellow textbox. The Health Canada and Canadian flag logo appears in the bottom right corner of the white label and just below this is the acronym NDS-SND. The top left side of the label has a red rectangular textbox with InLight centered above a character. Appearing over the heart area of the character is a square black box which represents the dosimeter wearing location.

Dosimeter overview

The InLight Nova dosimeter (whole body and head/neck dosimeter) uses Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) technology to monitor exposure to X-ray, beta and gamma radiation.

Each InLight Nova dosimeter is shipped fully assembled with the:

Extremity dosimeters

extremity dosimeter

Text description

Two dosimeters that are ring-shaped and adjustable. On the right is a small sized ring, white in color. On the left is a large sized ring, green in color. The green ring has a white label with the dosimeter serial number 756064 that is outlined by a black rectangular box. The acronym NDS – SND is centered at the bottom. The white ring has a white label with the dosimeter serial number 422185 that is outlined by a black rectangular box. The word CONTROL is centered at the bottom. Both rings have the Health Canada and Canadian flag logo on the top of the white label. The entire white label, on each ring, is covered with a heat shrunk clear plastic casing.

Dosimeter overview

The ring, wrist and ankle dosimeters use thermoluminescence (TLD) technology to monitor exposure to X-ray, beta and gamma radiation.

The ring dosimeter is made by enclosing a thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) element in a ring shaped dosimeter holder with an identification label pasted on top. A heat shrunk plastic covering is then added to make the dosimeter water resistant. All ring dosimeters are labelled with a unique serial number that identifies the dosimeter assignment.

The wrist and ankle dosimeters are made by enclosing a dosimeter card in a plastic holder. The dosimeter card consists of two thermoluminescent dosimeter elements. The wrist and ankle dosimeter are labelled with the:

The dosimeter is fastened to the wrist or ankle using a Velcro® strap.

Text description

Front view of a single extremity dosimeter that is rectangular in shape and dark blue in color. It has a narrow white rectangular label on the front side of the dosimeter that has the user's name J.L. Picard. Below the name J.L. Picard is A12345 RH / MD. On the left, below the rectangular white label is a separate square white label with the acronym NDS – SND and the Health Canada logo. To the right of the square white label is a square silver foil adhesive tape. A textile black thin strap with a Velcro fastening mechanism is attached to the dosimeter. The strap has National Dosimetry Services 1-800-261-6689 printed in white on the top portion of the strap and Services nationaux de dosimétrie 1-800-261-6689 printed in white on the bottom portion of the strap.

Client suitability

Ring, wrist and ankle dosimeters can be used by individuals whose extremities are at risk of radiation exposure, such as:

Neutron dosimeters

neutron dosimeter

Text description

Two neutron dosimeters that are side by side. The neutron dosimeter to the left has the front view and the neutron dosimeter to the right has the back view. The front view neutron dosimeter is flat and white in color. A barcode appears at the top of the dosimeter and below the barcode is the letter x with the numbers 02/01/04. The bottom left hand corner has the numbers 181724. The back view neutron dosimeter is also flat and white in color. A black rectangular box appears to the left of the dosimeter and a 3D barcode appears to the right of the dosimeter. Each neutron dosimeter is inside a clear vinyl pouch. The clear pouch is flat and has a metal and clear vinyl fastening clip attached to the top.

Dosimeter overview

Neutron dosimeters use solid state nuclear track detector technology (CR-39) to monitor exposure to neutron radiation. The dosimeter is packaged in a vinyl pouch specifically designed for neutron detection.

Clients who use the neutron dosimeter may also monitor a broad spectrum of ionizing radiation by using a Whole Body Dosimeter (InLight Nova).

Client suitability

Neutron dosimeters can be used by individuals who may be exposed to neutron radiation, such as:

Electronic personal dosimeters

electronic personal dosimeter

Text description

Front view of a single electronic personal dosimeter (EPD). The EPD is rectangular shaped, off white in color and has a black lid on the top. On the front side, near the bottom is an orange/reddish circle and above this is a small orange light. There is a black circular knob on the left side of the dosimeter, near the top and a black oval button, on the front side, near the top. SIEMENS is written in black capital letters just below the black oval button.

Dosimeter overview

The Electronic Personal Dosimeter, or the EPD® as it is more commonly called, detects and monitors exposure to X-ray, beta and gamma radiation in real time.

Radiation that is detected by the EPD is processed to give a real time readout to the user via a liquid crystal display (LCD) for deep dose, skin dose and dose rates.

Client suitability

EPDs can be used by individuals who need real-time personal monitoring for dose management purposes such as:
