Changes to submission requirements for cannabis cultivation, processing and sale for medical purposes licences
Health Canada has reduced what you need to submit for some physical security and visual evidence requirements as an applicant or licence holder. If you have already submitted an application or a change request, you don't need to change what you've submitted.
Important: Although the submission requirements are reduced, you're still responsible for following the Cannabis Regulations. Refer to the Physical security measures guide for cannabis for information on physical security requirements.
As of January 23, 2024, you'll no longer need to submit the elements listed below. If necessary, we'll request more information to verify your compliance with the Cannabis Regulations.
Visual evidence
- Photos of:
- the site perimeter
- the exterior of the building
- any changed areas, if applicable
- close-up images of surfaces in all areas
- any outdoor grow areas, if applicable
- Guided video tour showing the physical security of the site buildings and indoor areas

You still need to submit all other required elements when applying for a licence or managing your cannabis licence. For all licence applications, we'll provide you with a Physical security attestation when you submit your application.
Contents for applying for a licence or managing your cannabis licence will be updated to reflect these changes in the coming months.
