Extension Agreement

Between:

Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada
as represented by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration
(hereinafter referred to as “Canada”)

and

Her Majesty the Queen in Right of British Columbia
as represented by the Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology
(hereinafter referred to as “British Columbia”)

Whereas Canada and British Columbia (the “Parties”) entered into the Canada-British Columbia Immigration Agreement (the “Agreement”) on April 7, 2015, for a duration of five (5) years ending on April 6, 2020.

And whereas the Agreement provides for its extension or amendment by the mutual written consent of the Parties, subject to any required approval or authorization including the approval of the Governor in Council for Canada and the Lieutenant Governor in Council for British Columbia.

And whereas the Parties have agreed to extend the term of the Agreement by a period of one (1) year.

Now therefore the Parties agree as follows:

  1. Section 10.7.2 of the Agreement is amended by deleting “five (5) years” and replacing it with “six (6) years” thereby extending the term of the Agreement by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  2. Section 10.2 of Annex A (Provincial Nominees) of the Agreement is amended by deleting “five (5) years” and replacing it with “six (6) years” thereby extending the term of Annex A by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  3. Section 13.1 of Annex B (Foreign Workers) of the Agreement is amended by deleting “five (5) years” and replacing it with “six (6) years” thereby extending the term of Annex B by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  4. Section 9.1 of Annex C (International Students) is amended by deleting “five (5) years” and replacing it with “six (6) years” thereby extending the term of Annex C by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  5. Section 17.1 of Annex D (Information Sharing) is amended by deleting “five (5) years” and replacing it with “six (6) years” thereby extending the term of Annex D by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  6. Section 9.1 of the Express Entry Schedule to Annex D (Information Sharing) is amended by deleting “for five years” and replacing it with “for six years” thereby extending the term of the Express Entry Schedule by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  7. Section 10.1 of the Provincial Nominee Schedule to Annex D (Information Sharing) is amended by deleting “for 5 years” and replacing it with “for six years” thereby extending the term of the Provincial Nominee Schedule by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  8. Section 12.1 of the Research Schedule to Annex D (Information Sharing) is amended by deleting “for 5 years” and replacing it with “for six years” thereby extending the term of the Research Schedule by one additional year to April 6, 2021.
  9. This Extension Agreement will come into effect on the date that it is signed by the last of the Parties to do so.
  10. This Extension Agreement may be entered into by each Party signing a separate copy of this Extension Agreement (including a photocopy, facsimile, or electronic submission) and delivering it to the other Party each of which when taken together, shall constitute an original Agreement.
  11. All other terms and conditions of the Agreement remain the same and in full force and effect.
