Update to the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program instructions
Summary
The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) instructions have been updated to provide the following:
- clarification of the types of degrees that make an applicant eligible for the PGWPP if the degree is earned at a Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees;
- guidelines for officers in their assessment of an applicant’s post-graduation work permit eligibility when the applicant has taken distance or online learning in Canada at a designated learning institution (DLI);
- clarification of the recognition of transferred credits earned in a program of study at a DLI that are accepted toward completing a subsequent program of study at another DLI or at the same DLI;
- clarification of the validity of post-graduation work permits that may be issued;
- removal of apprenticeship programs from the list of ineligible programs;
- in the English version, correction of an error in the list of restrictions from “Canada-Chile Scholars’ Exchange Program” to “Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program”.
