The instructions on elections, holidays and other timing considerations for citizenship ceremonies have been updated with the following modifications to rules for citizenship ceremonies during a federal election period:
- Members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) can participate in citizenship ceremonies with prior approval from their CAF chain of command.
- Organizing hosts and partners who are active on social media should not promote citizenship ceremonies and should avoid any reference to the current government.
- MPs’ offices will only receive a list of new citizens after the election.
