Applicants are not required to enrol their biometrics until biometric collection service points reopen and should not be refused for non-compliance for failure to meet the biometrics requirement within the stipulated deadline on the biometric instruction letter (BIL).

The BIL was amended in the Global Case Management System (GCMS). It now advises applicants that they have 90 days from the date of the letter to give their biometrics. However, despite BILs instructing applicants that they have 30 or 90 days to enrol their biometrics, they are not required to enrol their biometrics until biometric collection service points reopen.

Public messaging on the websites and social media as well as internal officer instructions have been updated to reflect this extension.
