January 19, 2021

This update adds information for study permit holders impacted by COVID-19 who wish to do a co-op work placement under the heading “Co-op Work Permit.” It adds information on possibilities for doing work placements overseas if the student’s school and employer agree, as this type of work does not require a work permit.

It also adds information on a temporary measure in which study permit holders who are in Canada, but waiting for their co-op work permit to be processed, can use the work authorizations provided by R186(f) and/or (v) to begin their co-op placement, subject to the conditions of those authorizations.
