Program delivery update: Review of PDIs following the report from the Commissioner of Official Languages

These program delivery instructions (PDIs) have been updated to meet IRCC’s linguistic obligations under the Official Languages Act and the Official Languages (Communications with and Services to the Public) Regulations when officers are interviewing clients and when they are assessing the ability of the sponsor and the applicant to communicate with each other.
The updated PDIs instruct officers to address clients in the official language of their choice and to clearly inform clients of the reason for any changes in language prior to any testing being carried out.
