Effective, September 10, 2023, the temporary Public policy to facilitate the immigration of certain sponsored foreign nationals excluded under paragraph 117(9)(d) or 125(1)(d) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), has been extended for an additional 3 years.

Under paragraphs R117(9)(d) or R125(1)(d) of the IRPR, a foreign national who did not have a non-accompanying family member examined at the time the foreign national applied for permanent residence cannot later apply to sponsor that family member.

The previous public policy expired on September 9, 2023. This consecutive public policy was signed by the Minister and is in effect from September 10, 2023, to September 10, 2026. Applications pending on the day this public policy came into effect will be processed in accordance with this public policy.

The family class instructions relating to this public policy have been updated to reflect the new dates in terms of which applications are to be processed under this public policy.
