Program delivery update: Study permits: Letters of acceptance
This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
December 22, 2023
As of December 1, 2023, all post-secondary designated learning institutions (DLIs) must verify the letter of acceptance (LOA) submitted with an overseas study permit application. DLIs must complete verification activities in the new tool for verifying letters of acceptance (for electronic applications) or by email when requested by IRCC (for paper applications and applications submitted at visa application centres). Hence, the section “Verifying letters of acceptance for overseas study permit applications received as of December 1, 2023” has been added to
- provide information on how this new tool works
- provide instructions related to assessment and processing applications once the verification activity is completed and becomes available in the Global Case Management System (GCMS)
Additionally, the following subsections are now available:
- Extension of LOA verification due to unforeseen circumstances
- Validation status definitions in the LOA verification portal
