The International Experience Canada (IEC) program instructions have been revised significantly to improve consistency and compliance. Updates include clarifications regarding:
- the role of border services officers at ports of entry
- immigration medical examinations
- dependants
- passport validity
- re-use of the certificato di residenza
- discontinuance for dual citizenship holders
- police certificates, including clearer instructions on how to manage delays in receiving police certificates and the documents that may be requested if further clarification is needed
- best practices for issuing work permits, including enhanced verification procedures, improved record management in the Global Case Management System (GCMS), and more efficient processes for reissuing and correcting permits
- updates to sector roles and responsibilities following departmental reorganization
- removal of Ukraine and Mexico from the list of eligible countries, ensuring the program aligns with current policies
- correction to the validity period for Australian International Co-op applicants
- Dutch post-secondary students can submit an official letter from their educational institution confirming that the TEER 4 employment is related to their field of study
