We use modern digital tools to support decision-making, and to help delivery faster, more consistent service, while protecting program integrity and the security of Canadians.
These tools do not refuse applications nor don't recommend refusals. Our trained Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada officers make refusal decisions, and are accountable for all outcomes.
Before we introduce any new tool, we carefully assess its impacts on clients and our immigration system, paying special attention to fairness, accuracy, and integrity.
We are using low risk artificial intelligence for everyday tasks—like sorting files or automating routine administrative tasks—to free up staff for the complex work people rely on.
Our use of these tools follows government-wide requirements and is subject to strong governance, oversight, and privacy protections.
