How to get a police certificate – Barbados
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

You must provide a police certificate when you apply for permanent residence in Canada and for some temporary residence programs (please see the document checklist and/or visa office requirements for details).
How to apply
If you live in Barbados
You can apply
- online
- by mail
- in person at the Central Police Station
The certificate can be mailed to you if needed.
You should include:
- your full name and any previous names
- most recent address in Barbados
- date and place of birth
- a photo identity card
- the applicable fees

If you live outside of Barbados
You can apply online, by mail or in person, or someone can submit the written request on your behalf to the Central Police Station. The police clearance can be mailed to you or given in person.
You should include:
- your full name and any previous names
- most recent address in Barbados
- date and place of birth
- a copy of a photo identity card or passport
- a full set of fingerprints taken by a recognized police authority
- the applicable fees – $20 (BBD) or $10 (USD)
- money order or certified cheque made payable to the Commissioner of Police
- a self-addressed envelope (if you want the police clearance to be mailed back to you)
