How to Get a Police Certificate - Paraguay

If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:

  • permanent residence
  • citizenship
  • some temporary residence programs

How to apply

If you are a citizen of Paraguay

If you live in Paraguay

Apply online (in Spanish only) or at the Policía Nacional, Departamento de Identificaciones in Asunción in person or through a representative authorized in writing to act on your behalf.

If you live outside of Paraguay

Apply through the Paraguayan embassy or consulate, or you can fax or mail a copy of your cedula and a written authorization to a close relative (your father, mother, son, daughter or spouse) to apply on your behalf. If you live in Paraguay

Apply at the Policía Nacional, Departamento de Identificaciones in Asunción in person or through a representative authorized in writing to act on your behalf. Instructions and more information is available on the Government of Paraguay website (in Spanish only).

If you live outside of Paraguay

Apply through the Paraguayan embassy or consulate.

Special considerations

Only certificates issued by the National Police headquarters (Policia Nacional) are accepted. Certificates issued by any other federal/provincial government offices are not accepted.
