How to Get a Police Certificate - Venezuela

If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

How to get a Police Certificate

If you are a citizen of Venezuela

If you live in Venezuela:

You must apply for your certificate online at the Ministerio del Poder Popular para Relaciones Interiores (available in Spanish only), Justicia y Paz, “Servicios a la Ciudadanía”, “Certificaciones para trámites internacionales”.

Follow the instructions for getting into the system (PDF, 443 KB) (available in Spanish only).

Instructions are only provided in Spanish and you must have your Identify Card (cédula) number to complete the process.

If you live outside of Venezuela:

You must apply for your certificate online at the Ministerio del Poder Popular para Relaciones Interiores (available in Spanish only), Justicia y Paz, “Servicios a la Ciudadanía”, “Certificaciones para trámites internacionales”.

  • Reason for request. Since police certificates can only be issued from a public authority, you must mention that it is requested by the Canadian Embassy
  • Photocopy of your Identity Card (cédula)
  • Applicable fees

The Venezuelan government limits the number of requests for “Certificados de Antecedentes Penales” for foreign purposes. Access to the system starts Monday – Friday at 8am and is available until the daily quota is met.

All supporting documents must be in PDF format.
