Required step Before you apply for your adopted child’s Canadian citizenship, you must complete the adoption process first.

There are 2 parts to the citizenship process:

  • Part 1: We confirm your Canadian citizenship.
  • Part 2: We check if your adopted child can become a Canadian citizen.
