You need a work permit
If you’re a seasonal worker for a seafood processing plant, you need a work permit to work in Canada.
You must meet the general eligibility requirements for a work permit.
Type of work permit
You can apply for an employer-specific work permit. Your employer must get a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment to hire you.
When you fill out your work permit application, select “Labour Market Impact Assessment Stream” as the type of work permit in the “Details of intended work in Canada” section.
Faster processing
You may be eligible to have your work permit processed within 30 days if your work permit will be
- seasonal
- limited to 180 days
Before you apply
Your employer must give you
- a copy of the Labour Market Impact Assessment
- a copy of your job offer letter or contract
