The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has been chosen to be part of the inaugural film program at the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, where 19 NFB works will be featured in continuous screenings in the museum’s two theatres. Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum opened its doors on September 22.

As part of this initiative, Build Canada Homes will provide $25 million to support the construction of 80 supportive housing units at the first of the three sites. The broader initiative also includes a $20 million contribution from the UHN Foundation and $19 million from the City of Toronto. These investments will help advance efforts to bring health care and housing together. The broader expansion would bring the Social Medicine Housing Initiative to more than 300 homes overall, representing one of the most significant efforts in Canada to bring health care and housing together.

Ottawa, Ontario – Part 2 of a 2-part public hearing held by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will take place from October 6 to 9, 2026, to consider an application from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to renew the power reactor operating licence for the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station (PNGS) and the waste facility operating licence for the Pickering Waste Management Facility. The Commission will also consider the proposed refurbishment of PNGS Units 5 to 8.
