Today, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced that it is awarding nearly $4 million to 19 Indigenous Nations and communities over 2 years through the new Indigenous and Stakeholder Capacity Fund (ISCF). The ISCF serves to increase recipients’ capacity to better engage and participate in the CNSC’s full lifecycle of regulatory processes, programs and initiatives.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today initiated an expiry review of its finding made on February 15, 2019, in inquiry NQ-2018-003, to determine if the expiry of the finding is likely to lead to continued or resumed dumping of carbon steel welded pipe from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Türkiye and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is likely to result in injury to the domestic industry.

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services, introduced a Bill in the House of Commons as part of the Government’s commitment to establish new proposed safe drinking water and wastewater legislation in consultation with First Nations.
She will be joined by AFN Ontario Regional Chief Glen Hare, Erica Beaudin Cowessess First Nation Chief, Indigenous partners, along with the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, the Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs, Jenica Atwin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services, Jaime Battiste, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, and Terry Duguid, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and Special Advisor for Water.
