On October 17, 2025, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, unautorized items were seized at Cowansville Institution, a medium-security federal institution.
On October 16, 2025, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, packages containing contraband and unauthorized items were seized in the minimum security unit at Drumheller Institution.
From October 13-17, 2025, the Honourable Joanne Thompson, Minister of Fisheries, participated in multi-day tour of British Columbia and Yukon, engaging with Indigenous leaders, fishery stakeholders, and scientific experts on shared priorities in conservation, trade, reconciliation, and fisheries modernization.

Eligible organizations can now apply to the Black Entrepreneurship Program Ecosystem Fund to strengthen their services for Black entrepreneurs and businesses to build a stronger economy
Today, Taleeb Noormohamed, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Member of Parliament for Vancouver Granville, on behalf of the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, announced more than $30 million from the Emergency Treatment Fund (ETF) for 34 projects, and more than $10 million for six projects under the Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) across Western Canada.
The Substance Use and Addictions Program (SUAP) provides time-limited funding for a wide range of innovative and evidence-informed projects including substance use prevention, harm reduction and treatment initiatives across the country.
