Today, Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for Northwest Territories, on behalf of the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, alongside the Honourable Jay Macdonald, Minister of Environment and Climate Change for the Government of Northwest Territories, jointly announced the signing of the Canada–Northwest Territories Nature Agreement to advance nature-related priorities, in collaboration with Indigenous governments, across the territory.

Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor, announced a Government of Canada investment of $1,668,500 to help pave the way for the City of Temiskaming Shores to showcase Northern Ontario mining businesses and organizations on the world stage at three separate events in 2024 and 2025.

Today, Musqueam Chief Wayne Sparrow, alongside the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, and the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Transport and Internal Trade (signing in counterpart), signed an agreement committing the Government of Canada to share a percentage of ground lease revenues with Musqueam Indian Band. These revenues are collected by the Government of Canada from the Vancouver Airport Authority.
Lake of the Woods is a vital freshwater resource, supporting livelihoods, drinking water, culture, Indigenous cultural and spiritual life, and biodiversity. Protecting water quality in Lake of the Woods and addressing harmful algae blooms is essential to protecting the health of fish and wildlife and ensuring recreational access for visitors for years to come.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) will be conducting defence and sovereignty related operations in the Arctic from February 23 to March 9, 2025, in the vicinity of Inuvik and Mackenzie River Delta, Northwest Territories, under Operation (Op) NANOOK-NUNALIVUT.
