A contribution agreement was signed with the Centre de recherche sur les milieux insulaires et maritimes (CERMIM), as part of funding from the Habitat Stewardship Program (HSP) for a two-year project.

The fishing industry is an essential pillar of the economy and culture of the Magdalen Islands. In the face of significant environmental change, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is demonstrating innovation that will make our marine ecosystems more resilient and our coastal communities thrive.
Six projects in the Magdalen Islands funded by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec under the Quebec Fisheries Fund.
Projects funded by Budget 2024 will be undertaken at the following Fisheries and Oceans small craft harbours in British Columbia. Projects range from repairs to reconstruction of assets, or dredging related work.
Small craft harbours are the heart of many coastal communities, bringing people together in work and play, while supporting jobs in the fish and seafood industry for over 45,000 Canadians. As part of Budget 2024, $463.3 million over three years will be invested for the repair and maintenance of small craft harbours. This is on top of the Department’s annual budget of $90 million for these harbours.

On November 12, 2024, the Honourable Julie Dabrusin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Canada, announced federal investments totalling over $18.6 million in 17 Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) charging infrastructure projects, in both private and public spaces.
