Media representatives are advised that Environment and Climate Change Canada will hold a media availability with regard to Canada’s Rapid Extreme Weather Event Attribution system and the 37 hottest heat waves that impacted 17 regions across the country during summer 2024. The results will show how much more likely human-caused climate change made each heat wave and how many degrees above normal temperatures rose. Upcoming new capabilities for the system will also be introduced.
