Competition Bureau completes investigation into Enercare’s water heater rental contracts, policies and practices

The Bureau is seeking information from businesses and other interested parties regarding certain strategies that firms may use to hinder competition in certain core digital markets, such as online search, social media, display advertising, and online marketplaces.
The Competition Bureau issued a report today summarizing the discussions that took place at the Data Forum in Ottawa on May 30, 2019. The Bureau organized the Forum to foster exchanges on the evolving issues competition enforcers face in the rapidly growing digital economy.
Browsers beware: scammers are running fake websites meant to mimic real federal government ones. These misleading websites can easily appear to be authentic. The layout, the colour scheme, the red maple leaf graphic – it all looks right. These phony sites could fleece you out of money or personal information…or both!
As of 2018, more than 1 million Canadian households have chosen an independent provider for their high-speed Internet connection. That’s one of the findings of the Competition Bureau’s study of competition and consumer habits in Canada’s high-speed Internet industry.
