October 26, 2022 - The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will welcome the United States of America’s Secretary of State, Anthony J. Blinken to Canada for Secretary Blinken’s first official visit, during which the Minister and the Secretary of State will hold a series of media engagements in Ottawa and Montreal on October 27 and 28, 2022. Notably, on Thursday, October 27, the Minister and the Secretary of State will hold a joint media availability from the Sir John A. Macdonald Building in Ottawa.
October 19 – The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host a virtual meeting of women foreign ministers to discuss the grave state of women and human rights in Iran in the midst of mass unrests and ongoing protests against the Iranian regime. The Minister will open the meeting by delivering remarks reiterating Canada’s commitment to working with the international community to support Iranians.
The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada, will hold a media call back following his visit to Ukraine with Yvan Baker, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke Centre, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from Warsaw. The minister will deliver short remarks before answering media questions.
The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, will visit Singapore on October 7 and 8 to attend Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Commission meetings. She will be joined by counterparts from other CPTPP economies, including Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

Minister Joly will be joined by Nadia Murad to open the event and discuss the importance of centering survivors in the pursuit of justice, including reparations.
