Member of Parliament Jay Aspin (Nipissing-Timiskaming), on behalf of the Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today an investment to enhance tourism, strengthen the economy and support the long-term prosperity of the North Bay region.
Below is a list of the Canadian companies with which the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has entered into Contribution Agreements, as well as a short description of their respective research and development (R&D) projects. The total CSA contribution to the six projects is $1.6 million; the maximum contribution per project is up to $300,000 and all agreements are valid for 24 months. The total amount of Canadian government assistance (federal, provincial and municipal) per project cannot exceed 75 percent.

Today, the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced two federal investments, through the Western Diversification Program (WDP), to enhance economic competitiveness in the West.
Canada is a vast country with unique weather patterns that create challenges for communities from coast-coast-coast. Today the Honorable Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Minister of National Revenue, and Member of Parliament for Delta-Richmond East announced that six Canadian companies will partner with German companies to undertake research to better understand environmental conditions so that Canadians can be better prepared for major events such as droughts and forest fires.
Each government is committing a total of $11,517,336 for the 26 projects, which have a total eligible cost of $34,552,032. The projects are as follows:
