The Honourable Keith Ashfield, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, on behalf of the Honorable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment, Minister of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency and Minister for the Arctic Council, announced today the Government of Canada will contribute $280,000 to support work on new innovations in environmental monitoring.
The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario, and the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced the Government of Canada's Strategy for the extractive sector (including mining, oil and natural gas). The ministers made the announcement at the Mining Association of Canada's annual Mining Day on the Hill luncheon.
On November 9, 2014, at about 2:20 p.m., correctional officers in the medium security unit at Joyceville Institution intercepted an inmate who was attempting to bring contraband into the institution. The contraband seized includes 56.26 grams of fentanyl. The total institutional value of this seizure is estimated at $56,260.
