The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and Regional Minister for PEI, today officially marked the beginning of construction on the new home of the Canadian Coast Guard's operations on Prince Edward Island.
Small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs in the greater Charlottetown area will soon have access to a new program for business support. East Prince Development Inc., a non-profit development organization, is establishing strategic partnerships to get the word out on the urban loan program, referred to as the Seed Capital Initiative.
Eastern Composite Services (ECS), a local company specializing in fiberglass, rubber and plastic lined products (pipe and vessels), has created a facility in Argentia for manufacturing and servicing businesses requiring these specialized products, thanks in part to funding from the Government of Canada. ECS is a maintenance and repair company for special construction materials commonly used in the corrosion resistance industry.
Today, Industry Minister James Moore announced the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has awarded a contract to L-3 MAPPS for simulator systems used to train astronauts and flight controllers to operate Canadarm2 and Dextre, Canada's contribution to the International Space Station (ISS).
July 13, 2015 - CHATHAM, ONTARIO - Dave Van Kesteren, Member of Parliament for Chatham-Kent-Essex, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, today announced a $540,000 investment for numerous improvements to the Chatham Armoury in support of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, was joined today by the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, Robert Poëti, Quebec Minister of Transport, and Jean D'Amour, Minister for Transport and the Implementation of the Maritime Strategy, and Minister responsible for the regions of Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles-Madeleine, to announce $389,681,000 in federal funding for Phase 3 of the redevelopment of Highway 85, under the National Infrastructure Component of the New Building Canada Fund. The Government of Quebec's contribution of $557,319,000 also reaffirms the project as priority under the 2015-2025 Québec Infrastructure Plan. Construction work on this segment of the highway will begin in 2017. This funding is conditional on the project meeting applicable federal eligibility requirements with respect to the New Building Canada Fund and the signing of a contribution agreement.
