The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development, delivered a keynote speech today at the Canadian Club of Ottawa where he highlighted the Government of Canada's ongoing commitment to creating jobs, economic growth and ensuring the long-term prosperity of the Canadian economy.
The Government of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) have launched the second tour of Break It Off, a joint tobacco cessation, awareness and outreach campaign aimed at young Canadians. This tour is part of the Government of Canada's multi-year $4.8 million investment to help young adults quit smoking and stay smoke-free.
Over the past few months, hundreds of Canadians from coast to coast to coast have embraced The Play Exchange, submitting fun and innovative ideas to encourage Canadians to live healthier and more active lifestyles. Today, Minister Ambrose and the Play Exchange partnersannounced the top six finalists in the running for up to $1 million to launch their project.
The Play Exchange is a national challenge that was launched in February 2014 to find and support creative ideas to get Canadians living healthier lifestyles.

Today's announcement of $1.1 million to support World Vision Canada is contributing to the provision of emergency water, sanitation and hygiene for approximately 25,000 people in Afghanistan. With Canada's support, World Vision Canada is also training 45 community groups, 42 school teachers and more than 2,700 students on hygiene promotion and awareness of health, water and sanitation practices. Canada is also contributing to the construction and rehabilitation of safe water infrastructure and latrines, to benefit more than 4,500 households.
