As parents across the country prepare to send their kids back to school, the Government of Canada is providing them with much-needed support through the increased Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB). The Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, along with the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, highlighted that the boosted payments provided to families today in Fredericton. The enhanced UCCB will provide almost $2,000 per year for each child under 6 and $720 per year for each child aged 6 through 17.
Today, the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Health announced support for the Girls' Health and Wellness project to encourage active and healthy living among girls ages 10 to 18 years.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) today launched a public consultation to better understand the technical solutions that are currently offered to help Canadians manage unsolicited telecommunications and illegitimate telemarketing calls. The CRTC is also exploring new and innovative solutions that could enhance consumer protections, including those that may reduce illegitimate caller identification (caller ID) spoofing.
