OTTAWA - Canada's Transport Minister John Baird today announced the approval of the London International Airport to participate in the international air cargo transshipment program. The program allows international air cargo to be moved through the airport for shipment to third countries, enabling the airport to seek new market opportunities and further develop its air cargo activity.

The Secretary to the Governor General, Ms. Sheila-Marie Cook, has confirmed that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaƫlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will return to Ottawa on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. The Governor General had been conducting a State visit to four countries in Central Europe since November 24, 2008. This decision has been made in light of the current political situation in Canada.
