AJAX - In recognition of Rail Safety Week, the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance and Minister Responsible for the Greater Toronto Area, today announced that the Government of Canada is providing $3,151,600 for 23 projects to improve safety at 21 railway crossings throughout Ontario. Construction of this laboratory, one of the best equipped in Canada, required an overall investment of $9.5 million and was made possible, in part, by $3.6 million in government funding. CURAL's mission is to conduct research in such areas as forging, fatigue behaviour and the manufacture of metal matrix composites, among others.
