Canadians join together in grief today as we mourn the loss of Private Terry John Street of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, who was killed in the Panjwayi District, in Afghanistan, the victim of an improvised explosive device. My husband, Jean-Daniel Lafond, and I are deeply saddened by this tragedy.

Private Terry John Street, from 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry was killed today when his armoured vehicle struck a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The incident occurred in the Panjwayi district. The soldier was immediately evacuated by helicopter to the Canadian-led multinational hospital at Kandahar Airfield, where he was pronounced dead. The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. Kandahar time while the soldier's unit was conducting operations.
