Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Mr. Jean‑Daniel Lafond are pleased to welcome an exhibit entitled Trace Elements: Selections from The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery, to Rideau Hall, in collaboration with Newfoundland and Labrador's The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery. This exhibit on display in the Ambassadors' Room highlights the popular stories that reveal life in Newfoundland and Labrador, the flavour of its neighbourhoods and the morphology of the land.
On March 17, 2008, Basic Environmental Systems and Technology Inc. (BEST) of Sherwood Park, Alta., entered a guilty plea in Alberta Provincial Court in Edmonton to one count of violating Section 3 of the Fertilizer Act. The company was fined $10,000.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency today announced the availability of up to $75,000 in participant funding to assist groups and/or individuals to take part in the environmental assessment of Ontario Power Generation's (OPG) proposed Darlington New Nuclear Power Plant Project near Oshawa, Ontario. The total funding amount will be made available in two separate phases.

The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is looking for top business entrepreneurs aged 19 to 35 from across Canada for the 2008 Young Entrepreneur Awards (YEA), which will be presented on October 21st at a ceremony in Vancouver, British Columbia, during Small Business Week®. Thirteen award winners, one from each province and territory, will be recognized for their business and leadership accomplishments.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Canadian Coast Guard offer their deepest sympathies and most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the crewmembers of the L'Acadien II who were involved in the incident that occurred in the ice of the Gulf of St. Lawrence over March 28 and 29.
