The Governments of Canada and Manitoba are announcing funding for the following three projects in the Northern Region of Manitoba under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund.
Drinking Water Infrastructure for Northern Region
Ralls Island Waterline Expansion
This project will expand the waterlines from the existing system to provide drinking water to the residents of Ralls Island, thereby adding approximately 250 connections to the existing infrastructure. The total eligible cost of this project is $2,940,000, with each level of government contributing $980,000.
Sherridon Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
This project will add two parallel water filtration processes that will close to triple the water treatment plant's capacity. The total eligible cost of this project is $1,400,000, with the Government of Canada contributing $466,666 and the Government of Manitoba contributing $933,334.
Wastewater Infrastructure for Northern Region
Wabowden Lagoon Expansion
This project will add a cell to the current lagoon that services Wabowden, to address a shortage of hydraulic capacity. The total eligible cost of this project is $1,600,000, with the Government of Canada contributing $533,333 and the Government of Manitoba contributing $1,066,667.
Previously announced projects under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund
The Government of Canada has committed a total of $15,969,222 for 26 projects announced under the Small Communities Fund since October 16, 2014. The Province of Manitoba has committed a total of $16,969,224 for the 26 projects. The total eligible cost of the 26 projects is $47,907,674.
