4. After you apply
Our decisions are informed by program priorities and budgets, which may change at any time. You can check the status of your submission in the application portal or by contacting us.
Assessment
We assess applications based on their strengths and relative to others received, including in the following areas:
- Eligibility in the RIE program
- Alignment with PacifiCan priorities
- Measurable economic benefits for British Columbians and Canadians
- Strong market or industry demand
- Effective governance and an established management team to carry out the project
- Financial capacity of the organization
- Share of private investment relative to government assistance
- For projects seeking PacifiCan contributions of $5 million or greater, use of Canadian materials and content where such options are reasonably competitive and available
PacifiCan may request assistance from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) to conduct trade risk assessments (TRA) as needed to address general trade risks and specific areas of concern. The results of these TRAs will contribute to PacifiCan decisions.
Funding disbursement
PacifiCan will provide funding to successful projects by reimbursing claims submitted by the funding recipient. PacifiCan will provide detailed instructions on this process to applicants who are approved for funding.
Reporting requirements
Along with funding claims, funding recipients will be required to submit regular progress reports and financial statements to PacifiCan throughout the project (from implementation through to the submission of the final results report).
