The Autism Spectrum Disorder Strategic Fund

This invitation to submit an application is now closed.

Autism is a neurological condition that affects how the brain functions. Autism is characterized by challenges in social communication and interaction, and by restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. The way autism affects a person varies. It is a "spectrum" disorder because each person with autism is unique. The support needs of individuals on the autism spectrum may also range from none to very substantial.

About the Fund

Budget 2018 announced $9.1 million over five years for an Autism Spectrum Disorder Strategic Fund.

The fund is designed to support innovative community-based projects that will provide tangible opportunities for Canadians on the autism spectrum, their families and caregivers to gain knowledge, resources and skills. Project activities should lead to improved health behaviours and, in the longer term, improve wellbeing of individuals on the autism spectrum, their families and caregivers.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Strategic Fund Call for Proposals

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is pleased to invite eligible organizations to submit applications for community-based projects that provide opportunities for the autism community to gain knowledge, resources and skills. Projects should include activities that will improve health behaviours, address the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and support the mental, physical and social wellbeing of individuals on the autism spectrum, their families and caregivers. The focus of this call for proposals is on innovative approaches to meet current or emerging priority areas for the autism community in the context of the pandemic.
