Public Health Notices – Enteric Illness Outbreak Investigations

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is responsible for responding to outbreaks of enteric illness (such as Salmonella or E. coli) transmitted through food, water, contact with animals or other routes. When an outbreak spans more than one province/territory or involves Canada and another country, PHAC works with provincial and territorial health authorities, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada to investigate the source.

Public Health Notices are issued to inform Canadians about outbreak investigations and offer advice on what people can do to protect their health.
