About outbreak investigations and notices
The Public Health Agency of Canada is responsible for responding to outbreaks of enteric illness, like Salmonella or E.coli, transmitted through routes like:
- food
- water
- contact with animals
We investigate outbreaks in more than one province or territory, or involving Canada and another country, by working with:
- Health Canada
- the Canadian Food Inspection Agency
- provincial and territorial health authorities
Public health notices include the latest information on these investigations, and advice on how to protect your health and prevent the spread of illness.
