Epidemiological summary

During epidemiological week 22, 2018 two new laboratory-confirmed cases of measles were reported in Canada1. No cases of rubella were reported. A measles case was reported by the province of Ontario in an adult who travelled back to Canada from Ukraine by air while communicable. The province of Alberta also reported a measles case during week 22. The case is an adult who didn’t report any recent history of travel outside the country. The source of exposure is under investigation. Both cases had rash onset during week 22.

To date in 2018, a total of 13 cases have been reported, all cases were imported or associated with an imported case.

The last rubella case was reported in February 2016.
