Measles & Rubella Weekly Monitoring Report – Week 31: July 28 to August 3, 2019
Key Points:
- In Canada, one new case of measles and no new cases of rubella were reported in week 31, 2019.
- Currently, there are two active Footnote 1 cases of measles in Canada.
- Eighty-four (84) cases of measles and no cases of rubella have been reported in Canada in 2019. These cases were reported by Québec, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Epidemiological Summary:
During epidemiological week 31, 2019 one new confirmed case of measles and no new cases of rubella were reported in CanadaFootnote 2. The case was reported by the province of Quebec and was acquired while travelling in Vietnam, with rash onset occurring in epidemiological week 28. To date in 2019, 84 cases of measles and no cases of rubella have been reported. The last case of rubella was reported in 2016 and the last case of congenital rubella syndrome/infection was reported in September 2018.
