Epidemiological Summary:

During epidemiological week 18, 2022, no new cases of measles or rubella were reported in CanadaFootnote 2. To date in 2022, one confirmed case of measles and no cases of rubella have been reported. The last case of rubella was reported in December 2019. The last case of congenital rubella syndrome/infection was reported in September 2018.

Laboratory Summary

Measles

In 2022, one case of measles has been genotyped.

The case reported by the province of Ontario with rash onset occurring in epidemiological week 10 was genotype B3, which is endemic in Pakistan.
