Epidemiological summary

During epidemiological week 24, 2023, 1 new case of measles and no cases of rubella were reported in Canada^{Footnote 2}. The case is an unvaccinated 2-year-old who was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in February 2023. Source of exposure is unknown and date of rash onset occurred in epidemiological week 23.

To date in 2023, 7 cases of measles and no cases of rubella have been reported. The last case of rubella was reported in December 2019. The last case of congenital rubella syndrome/infection was reported in September 2018.
